SCAN Clearwater Celebrates Opening with Referring Veterinarian Open House Event

Specialists in Companion Animal Neurology (SCAN-Clearwater) welcomed referring veterinarians, colleagues, staff and their families for an Open House event at its new Clearwater practice location on Thursday, June 28. Upon arrival, guests were encouraged to enter SCAN’s raffle drawing, giving them the opportunity to win pet-themed, canvas art and one of two tablets.

Dr. Michelle B. Carnes and Dr. Jim Cook provided personal tours of the new state-of-the-art practice, which houses the best diagnostic and treatment capabilities available, including its on-site GE high-field 1.5 Tesla MRI located within a specially-designed, copper room.

The event was catered by St. Petersburg’s, Orange Blossom Catering and was sponsored by Purina. Purina representatives were on-hand to showcase the company’s Neurocare diet, and to answer questions from referring veterinarians about the product. After touring the new practice and enjoying food, drink and networking with fellow veterinarians and practice managers, attendees were given a SCAN gift bag to thank them for their support of our new endeavor.

The new practice is conveniently located just off US Hwy 19 at 2481 Sunset Pointe Road, a location with easy access from all five Tampa Bay counties.

SCAN sees patients by referral only from primary care veterinarians Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; its neurologists are on call for emergency referrals 24/7/365. Board-certified neurologist Dr. Michelle B. Carnes, SCAN’s co-founder and medical director, and board-certified neurologist Dr. Jim Cook will be the primary neurology/neurosurgery providers at SCAN-Clearwater.
